Scott Classic Specialized catalogue wins at Korea stamp show
SIDNEY, OH (08/11/2014) - The 2014 edition of the Scott Classic Specialized Catalogue of Stamps and Covers 1840-1940 received a large vermeil medal Aug. 9 in the literature competition at the PHILAKOREA international stamp show in Seoul, Korea.
The 2014 Scott Classic Specialized catalogue, widely recognized as the best single-volume catalogue of listings and values for classic-era stamps, received a total of 87 points out of a possible 100, just three points shy of the 90 needed for a gold medal.
In philatelic literature competitions, medals are awarded based on points received in the following categories: treatment of contents (40 points possible); originality, significance and depth of research (40); technical matters (15); and presentation (5).
"This was the first time placing one of our catalogues in international competition," said Charles Snee, Editor, Scott Publishing Co., Amos Media Company. "As such, a large vermeil is an excellent showing."
